After the Rodeo

Medium

Acrylic

I found this image in Southwestern Highway Magazine and was struck by how real it felt—these cowboys sprawled out, completely worn from the day’s rides. There’s something honest and tender about that kind of exhaustion. I loved the quiet in the scene, the way the light stretched across the floor while they rested. It felt like a side of the rodeo we don’t always see, and I wanted to capture that stillness after all the adrenaline has passed.
